Learing Updates From Room 1 Reporters

Speeches
Ki Ora, Bonjour I’m Taine and I am going to talk about speeches and what we have learnt. I know speeches have to be three minutes. Also we have to memorise them and put them on cue cards. You have to use gestures, expression, a good stance and a clear voice. A good stance is not swaying side to side or one leg in front of each other. Gestures are your body movement that fits in with your speech. Of course you should know what expression is and also a clear voice. When you do the real thing it actually is quite freaky and scary, but once you start it isn’t that freaky. So I think speeches are one of the most important things in term 3 at Sunnyhills Primary School.

Descriptive Writing Week 3

KORU
I’m a koru sitting in the darkness, with the soft dark green leaves sitting softly around me, and I’m the brown Koru sitting on top of all this greenery.
Can people see me as they stroll through the beautiful forest? Or are the soft leaves covering me too much? Behind the leaves are little black patches of darkness.
Suddenly and quietly a few people walk past me, and I hear them whispering, and they’re saying look at that beautiful koru representing nature.
Suddenly a bolt of happiness runs down me. Has me, the  brownest koru been noticed?
Another bolt of happiness runs down me. So what am I? … the happiest koru of them all.                           By Jess
